Job Desctiption:

Iririki Island Resort & Spa is seeking suitable candidate to appoint for the above position reporting to Rooms & Grounds Manager.

The Assistant Head Housekeeper assists in the managing and directing of the day–to–day operations of all Housekeeping and laundry functions. Provides support to the Front Office Manager in all areas of Housekeeping operation, such as staff training, coaching and counseling and consistently inspects and enforces adherence to the Standards of Excellence. Participates in and enforces quality assurance for Housekeeping Department and department cost control measures.

The duties for this role will include:

- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Resort standards, as required by scheduling, which may vary according to the needs of the Resort.
- Comply at all times with Resort standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Determine the labor needs for the department and adjust staffing levels as needed.
- Prepare assignment sheets for the room attendants and determine duties for remaining staff.
- Maintain and help keep clean and restock all Housekeeping closets.
- Check the unoccupied rooms to ensure they are ready to rent.
- Report all discrepancies to the Front Office Manager.
- Record lost and found articles and secure them in the proper area.
- Manage the daily activity of all the housekeeping staff.
- Coordinate efforts with the front desk, maintenance staff and the Front Office Manager for things that may require your attention.
- Establish and maintain a regularly scheduled cleaning program – i.e. public areas, floor care, deep cleaning, changing shower curtains etc…
- Select and provide proper equipment and supplies for efficient and economical operation for the department. Establish and maintain standards of quality control.
- Conduct Monthly linen Inventories.
- Review daily, weekly and monthly reports (i.e. labor, revenue, sales, occupancy, arrivals, VIPs).
- Conduct public area inspections as well as room inspections to evaluate the physical condition of the Resort and recommend any repairs, painting and furnishing upgrades necessary.
- Supervise all staff including selecting, training, evaluating, scheduling, counseling and disciplining in accordance to the company policies.
- Have monthly staff meetings with entire housekeeping staff to communicate, update and listen to staff concerns or comments.
- Maintain employee records concerning attendance and punctuality.
- Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations.
- Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and
issues raised by coworkers and guests.
- Must display exemplary performance for the housekeeping staff to follow.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests.
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
Must have the ability to work various hours and shifts per week, with an average of 48+ hours per week.
- Must possess the ability to train personnel.
- Must possess good record keeping habits and time management skills.
- Other hotel-related duties as required.

 

Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

– Minimum 5 years of experience in a Managerial position preferably in a 4-5 star hotel.

Position Overview

The Second Engineer plays a critical role in the efficient and safe operation of the ship's mechanical systems. Collaborating closely with the Chief Mechanic and occasionally an oiler, the Second Engineer is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, repair, and operation of all mechanical and engineering equipment on board the 50-meter ship.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in Engine Room Operations:
     o Collaborate with the Chief Mechanic to ensure the proper functioning of engines, generators, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment.
     o Assist in the operation of machinery during navigation, docking, and other ship movements.

2. Maintenance and Repairs:
     o Participate in the regular maintenance and inspection of mechanical systems and equipment, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and maritime regulations.
    o Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues and breakdowns to minimize downtime.

3. Safety and Compliance:
    o Follow and enforce strict safety protocols and procedures in the engine room to ensure the safety of the crew and the vessel.
    o Maintain a thorough understanding of and compliance with all relevant maritime regulations.

4. Watchkeeping and Reporting:
      o Share watchkeeping responsibilities with the Chief Mechanic, monitoring machinery performance and responding to alarms or irregularities.
      o Maintain accurate records and reports of maintenance activities, equipment status, and operational conditions.

5. Training and Collaboration:
      o Provide guidance and training to the oiler or any junior engineering staff on board.
      o Collaborate closely with the Chief Mechanic to coordinate maintenance schedules and prioritize repairs.

6. Additional Duties:
      o Be flexible and adaptable to assist in other shipboard duties, including deck operations, when required and as directed by the ship's command or management.

 

Selection Criteria:

- Mechanic embedded machine system advanced skills
- In-depth knowledge of on-board mechanical systems and troubleshooting
- Qualification Watch Engineer (STCW III/1) compulsory
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the position

      o Develop effective troubleshooting strategies to minimize disruptions and swiftly restore normal operations.

4. Reporting and Communication:
      o Prepare detailed reports on maintenance operations, completed repairs, encountered issues, and preventive measures taken.
      o Maintain regular and transparent communication with the ship's crew, including the captain and other members of the leadership team, to ensure coordination and synchronization of activities on board.

5. Conducting Watch at Sea:
      o Assume responsibility for conducting watch at sea, overseeing the safe operation of the ship's mechanical systems during assigned shifts.
      o Monitor equipment performance, respond to alarms or abnormalities, and make necessary adjustments to maintain the ship's course, speed, and overall functionality.
Collaborate with the navigation team to ensure seamless communication and coordination

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Main duties & Responsibilities

Planning & Strategy
1. Maximize departmental profitability through regular cost control audits and efficient resource utilization
2. Analyze labor costs and productivity reports to ensure budget compliance
3. Monitor competitor activity and current F&B trends to inform menu innovation and service offerings
4. Assist in developing dynamic marketing plans and seasonal campaigns tailored to each outlet's identity
5. Collaborate with kitchen and service teams to ensure timely and quality service
6. Assist in preparing budgets, sales forecasts, and inventory plans
7. Monitor outlet profitability, analyze costs, and recommend efficiency improvement
8. Review daily revenue reports and adjust strategies accordingly

Organizing
1.           Ensure consistent application of brand standards in all F&B outlets
2.           Facilitate smooth pre-opening and post-opening processes, offering operational clarity and leadership
3.           Responsible for hands-on implementation of all F&B concepts and standards across all outlets
4.           Monitor standard compliance and progress and compile reports F&B teams
5.           Generate performance tracking reports and review operational effectiveness with outlet managers/supervisors
6.           Collaborate on pricing strategies, budget projections, and forecasting models for revenue optimization
7.           Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and minimize waste
8.           Ensure proper scheduling and adequate staffing based on business level

Directing
1.           Support key projects through data analysis, consultation of key operational issues with the resort and build financial models to assist decision-making.
2.           Review food and beverage collaterals and promotional material for internal and external use.
3.           Review menus and drinks list including, menu engineering, merchandising, menu item selection, writing style, cover and arrangements
4.           Co-ordinate special events, festivals and joint promotions as area marketing plan initiative.
5.           Ensure procurement and supplier compliance with resort standards

Guest Experience and Brand Promotion
1.           Lead implementation of brand-enhancing service strategies
2.           Coordinate with culinary, marketing, and event teams to execute promotions and activations
3.           Act as a visible presence during peak hours, ensuring VIP attention and conflict resolution

Health, Safety, Security
1.           Lead, guide the security of goods and safety of personnel in the departments including required training and implementation
2.           Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness promoting safety at all times
3.           Lead and oversee training of employees on all standard operating procedures including safety procedures and equipment
4.           Always check well that for any kind of work you are going to intervene on, there is no risk for the safety of people and goods
5.           Ensure pandemic safe practices (per SOP) are activated and adhered to strictly (e.g. sanitization hygiene touch points) across all outlets for staffs and guests

Employee Management
1. To, create a high level of morale among your staff in the department.
2. Ensure employees report for duty punctually, wearing correct uniform, name badge and footwear at all times.
3. Ensure that all areas of responsibility are properly staffed, supervised and operating smoothly taking into account public holidays, days off, etc.
4. Schedule staff in accordance with management guidelines and the business trend to achieve high productivity and maximum output.  
5. Conduct training courses for new employees and regular refresher courses for existing employees.  
6. Building of an efficient team of employees, taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, training and career development.
7. Supervise employees within the Department ensuring that correct standards of services and method are maintained as laid out in the department's manual.
8. Conduct quarterly appraisals of all your department personnel and review their general performance and areas of improvement.
9. Liaise with the HR and Director of Food and Beverage with the interviewing and hiring of new employees.
10. Supervise the orientation of new employees ensuring that they fully understand their job description and the policies and procedures of the Hotel as laid out in the Staff Handbook.
11. Responsible to discipline and counsel staff as required by the Hotel Policy and procedures guideline of Personnel and Training.
