Job Desctiption:
The Supply Chain Manager at Forney ensures end-to-end supply chain excellence
across community sourcing, procurement, warehousing, logistics, Sales and
production support. The role balances strategic leadership with regular field
engagement to strengthen trust with farming communities, ensure supply security and
quality, and align operations with Forney's commitments to safety, integrity,
sustainability, and customer focus. This is not a desk-only role. It is a unique blend of
strategic planning and commercial leadership, and culturally grounded, on-the-ground
relationship building with farmers, chiefs, and rural suppliers. Insights from the field will
directly influence procurement decisions, production planning, sustainability programs,
and long-term business strategy.
- Strategic & Commercial Leadership
Develop the end-to-end supply chain strategy aligned with production targets and growth
plans.
Establish demand forecasting, supplier performance metrics, and procurement governance
(policies, approvals, risk controls).
Analyze market conditions to identify risks, trends, and opportunities (pricing, seasonality,
weather, logistics).
Strengthen cost control, supply security, and quality assurance across sourcing operations.
Build robust traceability and lot-level documentation to support GMP/SQF and export
requirements.
- Farmer Engagement & Community Partnerships
Build long-term, trust-based relationships with farming communities and local leaders (chiefs,
co-ops, associations).
Lead structured engagement and best-practice programs across sourcing regions (training, fair pricing, safety).
Ensure sourcing aligns with cultural expectations, sustainability goals, and certification
standards (GMP/SQF).
Spend regular time in the field to understand supply realities, seasonality, and community
needs; convert insights into procurement decisions and production planning.
Promote ethical sourcing practices, grievance channels, and transparent communications.
- Procurement, Warehousing &Logistics
Oversee procurement operations to ensure consistent quality and supply of raw materials.
Lead the Warehouse Supervisor and field teams in maintaining accurate inventory and
efficient internal logistics.
Strengthen documentation, traceability, and coordination between procurement, warehouse,
QA, and production.
Support QA and Operations with supply insights for production planning and quality control
(spec adherence, batch release).
Optimize transport routes, carrier performance, and OTIF (On-Time, In-Full) delivery.
- People Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Coach and develop a diverse team across procurement, farmer engagement, and
warehousing.
Implement SOPs, KPIs, reporting structures, and continuous improvement initiatives (Lean/5S).
Champion a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and positive community engagement.
Build succession plans and skills matrices; conduct regular performance and development
reviews.
Selection Criteria:
5+ years' experience in supply chain, procurement, or agribusiness leadership.
Ability to balance strategic work with hands-on field engagement.
Experience working with rural, Indigenous, or smallholder farming communities.
Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and analytical capability.
Demonstrated team leadership experience.
High cultural intelligence, humility, and excellent communication skills.
Strong computer literacy, including digital document management and Excel/ERP
familiarity.
Excellent organisational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across department
Highly Desirable:
Experience in commodities, food manufacturing, cooperatives, or agricultural
sourcing.
Exposure to emerging markets or regional/rural supply systems.
Experience implementing supply chain systems, inventory tools, or ERP platforms.
Knowledge of Pacific culture or Kava (helpful but not mandatory).
Education Requirements:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering,
or related technical field.
