The Operations Manager will be based on Tanna and will provide overall day-to-day technical management oversight and support; this may include anything from replacing outdated equipment to installing new safety features to improve the overall performance of our team and ensure that Van-Pawa Ltd service provision aligns with good industrial practices and regulatory requirements and adheres to customer expectations.

 

Job Desctiption:

As an operations manager, your duties encompass overseeing staff supervision, house connections, repairing and maintaining transmission and distribution lines, and managing all line connections within the transmission and distribution network.
Additionally, you'll supervise electricity generation, transmission, and ground-level management of the Tanna electricity grid, while also monitoring plant operations to ensure its compliance with safety regulations. Here are some key responsibilities and skills you may encounter in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Staff Management: Responsible for supervision and support to staff and ensuring that assigned tasks and responsibilities are executed effectively.
• Power Generation: Oversee the operation of Tanna power plant, ensuring they are running efficiently and effectively.
• Transmission and Distribution: Manager the transmission and distribution               networks to ensure reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to customers.
• Maintenance and Repair: Coordinate maintenance and repair activities for power plant, transmission lines, and distribution equipment.
• Workforce Management: Supervise and manage a team of operations staff, including engineers, Mechanics, admin officers and line workers.
• Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans to respond to power outages, natural disasters, or other disruptions.
• Customer Service: Ensure that customer service is provided in a timely and efficient manner, including resolving customer complaints and issues.

 

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in electrical or mechanical engineering
• Minimum of 2 years' Diesel Generator Technician/Operator experience or similar roles.
• Experience in management or leadership role, with responsibility for operations, maintenance, and/or capital projects.
• Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing customer satisfaction.
• Experience with grid-connected renewable energy technologies

Selection Criteria:

Must possess a valid driver's license
At least year 12 with 2 years of work experience in a community, commercial banking or banking organization with demonstrated success and progress well regarded
Social work experience would be well regarded
Experience with women's groups and committees also well regarded
Ability to relate to and promote the social mission of SPBD whilst enforcing and complying     with commercial disciplines

Job Desctiption:

The Assistant Director will help embed the Centre's reputation for excellence and collaboration, building effective working partnerships across the Pacific security community, including with all government national security agencies in Pacific Island countries as a priority, and with relevant regional organisations as appropriate.

The Assistant Director will have demonstrated strategic leadership and management skills to help set the Centre's policy direction, deliver quality programs and foster a high-performance culture within a multi-disciplinary team.  The Assistant Director will have a clear-eyed view of the Pacific region's security interests, including the Boe Declaration priorities and new and emerging security threats

 

Selection Criteria:

Extensive knowledge of regional security issues and strategic assessment skills
Proven senior leadership and team management experience
Outstanding communication, negotiation, advocacy, and representation abilities
Experience in the Pacific context, ideally within government, regional, or security agencies
