Auclair Dupont is recruiting a Factory Manager for Vanuatu Brewing Limited (VBL), a major player in the beverage industry in Vanuatu.
VBL locally produces Tusker beer as well as sparkling water, and also imports and distributes a range of beverage brands. The company employs approximately 70 people and has recently commissioned a new factory, which is currently in its start-up phase.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Factory Manager will be responsible for all industrial operations. In an island environment where technical expertise, autonomy and adaptability are essential, their main objective will be to ensure the performance, reliability and continuous improvement of the production facility.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing all industrial operations and ensuring production targets are achieved in terms of volume, quality, cost and delivery;
- Preparing and monitoring the production plan and optimising the use of production capacity and equipment;
- Overseeing production, maintenance and quality activities, as well as the managers responsible for these functions;
- Ensuring equipment availability and reliability by developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies;
- Optimising industrial performance and related KPIs, including productivity, yield, equipment availability, production losses and manufacturing costs;
- Ensuring compliance with quality, food safety and regulatory standards, particularly through HACCP procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices;
- Managing the supply of raw materials, packaging and consumables required for production;
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement and cost optimisation initiatives;
- Contributing to the identification and management of investment projects aimed at improving productivity, quality and the reliability of industrial operations;
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements;
- Managing, supporting and developing industrial teams while fostering a culture of accountability, performance and teamwork.
Selection Criteria:
You hold a higher education qualification in industrial, mechanical, food, chemical or brewing engineering, or in a related technical field, and have significant experience managing an industrial environment.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in industry, including several years in an industrial management or leadership position, is required.
Experience in the brewing, beverage, food processing or wider process industry sectors would be a strong advantage.
You have strong expertise in:
- Production management and industrial process optimisation;
- Equipment maintenance and reliability;
- Management of technical and operational teams;
- Continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing and/or TPM;
- Budget management and cost control;
- Quality and food safety, ideally with experience in HACCP, GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 22000 or equivalent standards;
- ERP systems and the analysis of operational performance data.
