Job Desctiption:
The Marine Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall management and operation of the ship's engine department. He oversees all mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary systems to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations. He supervises the engineering crew, plans and carries out maintenance schedules, monitors fuel and power usage, and ensures compliance with maritime safety and environmental regulations. He reports directly to the ship's master and the company on all technical and engineering matters
Selection Criteria:
Qualifications – Holds a valid STCW-compliant Chief Engineer Unlimited license with current medical and mandatory safety certificates.
Technical Expertise – Strong knowledge of marine propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems, with proven experience in maintenance and repair.
Leadership – Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise the engineering crew effectively.
Safety & Compliance – Thorough understanding of SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and flag state regulations.
Experience – Prior service as Chief Engineer or senior engineer on ocean-going vessels.
