This position reports to the Supervisor Maintenance- Port Vila
Position Purpose:
The Tractor Operator- Port Vila is responsible for operating tractors and ride -on mowers to maintain airport grounds, with primary focus on vegetation control to ensure safe, clear and unobstructed visibility, supporting the continued safe operations of all airport actives at the Port Vila International Airport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate tractors and ride-on mowers to maintain airport vicinity and other AVL off- site designated areas
- Ensure vegetation are controlled to maintain clear visibility for airport operations
- Ability to follow a maintenance work program
- Assist with general ground maintenance tasks as required, including clearing debris
- Maintain tractor and mower in good working condition
- Conduct routine checks and basic servicing
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Valid tractor or heavy machinery operator license
- 5+ years of experience in operating tractors, mowers or similar equipment
- Knowledge of vegetation management practices and machinery maintenance
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work independently or as a team to meet deadlines
- Good record keeping and basic report writing skills
- Willingness to work late or weekends when required
- Have a good command of English or French in both
- Good interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
Desirable:
- Previous experience working on similar environment
- Ability to perform minor repairs
- Understanding of environment sustainable vegetation management practices
- Good communication and teamwork
Special Attributes:
- Must be medically and physically fit
- Must have a valid Police Clearance
- Age: Between 25 years- 45 years
- The ability to respond to any late nights or early morning hours' emergency at the airport premises
- Valid Driver's license and heavy duty driver's license
