Job Desctiption:
Must be able to maintain and service petrol Utes and diesel Utes as well as heavy crane trucks and excavators
Role summary
Maintain and repair the company's fleet of excavators, heavy vehicles, crane truck, utes, and small engines, plus help keep the workshop/warehouse clean and organised. Most work is routine servicing; occasional work includes driving machines and operating a crane truck to move containers (if licensed).
Key responsibilities
• Service and repair diesel engines on excavators, trucks, crane trucks, and utes.
• Maintain small motors (generators, pumps, small equipment).
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults and complete repairs.
• Keep the workshop and warehouse clean, safe, and organised; assist with parts and tools.
• Drive/position machines and operate crane trucks for moving containers, within licence/ticket limits.
Selection Criteria:
Qualifications
• Vocational/technical course in Automotive or Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanics.
• At least 3 years' experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic (construction, mining, or transport).
• Valid driver's licence; tickets for heavy equipment and/or crane truck an advantage (experienced non ticketed candidates also considered).
Skills and attributes
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills for diesel engines and heavy equipment.
• Can work independently on site and in a small workshop.
• Safety conscious, team oriented, and willing to assist with warehouse/yard tasks.
• Operate Vehicles as parts of work schedules may require operation of excavator, or crane truck etc.
• Able to drive heavy machinery is preferred but not necessary
