Job Desctiption:

The Chief Officer, also known as the First Officer, is the highest-ranking officer after the Captain. This role encompasses significant responsibilities in ensuring the overall management of deck operations, safety protocols, cargo handling, and crew supervision.

The Chief Officer must ensure that the vessel complies with all applicable international, national, and company regulations. This position also plays a pivotal role in the navigation of the vessel, standing watch, and ensuring that the vessel's course is maintained according to the Captain's instructions.

The Chief Officer oversees the safety and performance of the crew, ensuring that all activities related to the maintenance, security, and functionality of the ship are conducted efficiently. Additionally, the Chief Officer is directly involved in deck maintenance and actively participates in cargo operations, ensuring that all loading and unloading tasks are carried out safely and according to procedure.

This position requires the Chief Officer to coordinate the work of other officers and crew, especially in the handling of cargo, as well as in the maintenance and upkeep of deck machinery and safety systems. Leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to make quick decisions in critical situations are paramount for success in this role.

 

Selection Criteria:

• Valid STCW certification and Chief Officer license in accordance with safe manning
      requirements
• Extensive knowledge of maritime regulations and safety protocols.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills.
• Proficient in navigation, chart plotting, and using modern maritime technology.
• Ability to manage a diverse crew and ensure compliance with company and regulatory
      standards.
• Physically capable of handling demanding tasks in harsh maritime environments
