Job Desctiption:

The Sous Chef to our culinary team and to follow our Executive Chef's specifications and guidelines. The successful candidate will employ its culinary and managerial skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers' satisfaction

 

Selection Criteria:

Tasks and Responsibilities
• Cooks consistently and enthusiastically on a high level as directed by the chef or management.
• Helps creating and cooking to perfection all the items of "a la carte" menu and the other available fare like specials, functions and picnics.
• Cooking and preparing for each service as well as staff dinners and performs all duties assigned to him/her by the head chef.
• Teach and supervised meals cooked by junior chefs to ensure the established standards are followed.
• Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
• Produce high quality plates both design and taste wise
• Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
• Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
• Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
• Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff's performance
• Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
• Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers
• Controls incoming goods and stores it in perfect conditions.
• Ensure full understanding of the functional administration of the Point restaurant.
• Is guest orientated and able to converse with our guests, if need be
• Has fun cooking and loves his job! Is a sociable chef who likes to work in a small team with different personalities and respects and actively works with his colleagues in reception, office, restaurant, and housekeeping to satisfy the guests to the outmost possible way.
• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
• Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearances are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
• Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
• Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
• Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors and Management.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications:
• Minimum of 1 to 2  year experience in a similar position in a 4* or 5* hotel or restaurant
• Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written). Fluency in a foreign language is an added advantage.
• Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
• Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
• Passion for cooking and for continuously learning new ideas.
• Mentally organised and comfortable to work in a high pressure environment.
• Experienced in using cost control and costing procedures (or programs).
• Proven track of ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Highly motivated and passionate about the job and his/her career in the resort
