Job Desctiption:

As a maintenance officer for a hotel, your key responsibilities would include:

*Routine Maintenance:* Performing regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure all areas of the hotel are in good working condition, including guest rooms, common areas, and facilities like the pool, gym, and spa.

*Repair and Troubleshooting:* Addressing and resolving any maintenance issues promptly, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems, as well as furniture and fixtures.

*Preventative Maintenance:* Implementing preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and prevent breakdowns, including scheduled inspections, cleaning, and servicing of equipment and systems.

*Emergency Response:* Being available to respond to maintenance emergencies 24/7, such as power outages, leaks, or equipment failures, to ensure guest safety and comfort.

*Safety and Compliance:* Ensuring all maintenance activities adhere to safety standards and regulations, including fire safety, electrical safety, and building codes.

*Inventory Management:* Managing inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, and ordering replacements as needed to ensure efficient operations.

*Guest Satisfaction:* Addressing guest complaints or concerns related to maintenance issues promptly and effectively, striving to maintain high levels of guest satisfaction.

*Training and Development:* Providing training and guidance to other staff members on basic maintenance tasks and safety procedures, fostering a culture of proactive maintenance throughout the hotel.

 

Selection Criteria:

Experiences:
1. Previous experience in hotel maintenance or a similar role is highly desirable.
2. Familiarity with the specific maintenance needs of a hotel environment, including guest rooms, common areas, and facilities.
3. Experience in managing maintenance schedules, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with contractors and vendors.
4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of maintenance issues efficiently.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional vocational or technical training in areas such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, or general maintenance is advantageous.
2. Relevant certifications in maintenance-related fields, such as HVAC certification or electrician licensure, may be preferred.
3. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures, including OSHA guidelines, is important for ensuring a safe working environment.

Essential:

• Have strong English written skills and excellent verbal communication skills.
• Have excellent problem-solving and relationship management skills, experience working as a member of a team, and experience managing programmatic, financial, administrative and logistical needs.
• Be self motivated and work without direct supervision.
• Have a good understanding of the health and development sector ni Vanuatu including networks
• with key stakeholders.

• Be familiar/comfortable with a human rights based approach to development

The Youth Officer is the overseer of all youth activities at VFHA, planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting youth activities.

Key responsibilities:

1. Be responsible for the Adolescent/Youth SRH/FLE program.
2. Plan, manage, and direct all youth program activities.
3. Prepare the annual youth work plans and budgets.
4. Prepare timely periodic narrative and financial reports for youth activities.
5. Train and support adolescent SRH advocates to roll out the FLE program.
6. Coordinate and ensure that the SRH services offered at all VFHA clinics are youth-friendly.
7. Coordinate the community distribution of condoms.
8. Establish and work with a network of youth groups to move the SRH/FLE agenda.
9. Ensure safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children / young people / vulnerable adults.
10. Perform any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor

 

Selection Criteria:

 Under age of 25 years.
 Interested applicants should have at least three years of experience in youth work at local and regional level
 A tertiary qualification in Youth Work and/or Community Development
 The ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
 Excellent computer skills particularly in MS Office – Word, Excel and Powerpoing
 Good understanding of donor proposal requirements, and ability to develop winning project proposals.
 Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to safeguarding in the local and international context.
 Demonstrated experience in SRHR youth advocacy and awareness-raising is advantegeous
 Valid Police Clearance
