Nicon Shipping runs several Vessels around the islands of Vanuatu and has a heavy ship repair facility at Luganville, Santo in Vanuatu. Strategically located approximately 600 nautical miles between New Caledonia, the Solomon Islands, and Fiji, the company is currently upgrading existing facilities and enhancing its capabilities.
Job Desctiption:
We're seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic for a land-based role managing the engineering services of several vessels. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, repairing and overseeing the fleet of ships, and supervising and training onboard engineers with limited technical knowledge. You'll ensure reliability, safety, and operational efficiency across all vessels.
Selection Criteria:
• Hold relevant Heavy Diesel Mechanic certification
•Strong background in maintenance, diagnostics, & repair
•Skilled in preventative maintenance planning
•Proven ability to lead, train, & mentor onboard engineers
•Good English communication & practical, adaptable pproach
• Flexible, resourceful, and comfortable working in a tropical environment.
- Be flexible with work hours, working around ships schedules
