Organisation Description:
Wan Smolbag Theatre is a dynamic non-governmental, not-for-profit organization that works across Vanuatu in areas such as youth development, education, health, environment, and governance. With over 30 years of experience using creative tools to engage communities, WSB is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Finance Manager to lead and oversee its finance operations.
Job Desctiption:
Key Responsibilities:
• Play a leading role in the financial management, planning, and budgeting processes across the organization.
• Ensure timely preparation of accurate financial reports, including monthly accounts, donor financial reports, and year-end financial statements.
• Supervise and support the finance team, ensuring compliance with internal policies and donor requirements.
• Manage audits, tax filings, and ensure full compliance with Vanuatu financial regulations.
• Oversee payroll, bank reconciliations, procurement processes, and internal controls.
• Update every payday the annual financial core outlook for the senior management committee to review'
• Work closely with the Operations Manager and Department Coordinators on budget monitoring and forecasting.
• Maintain effective relationships with donors, auditors, banks, and relevant government agencies.
• Ensure that once a month finance managers present an updated spending analysis of the projects they look after to the manager of that project
• Participate as a member of WSB's Senior Management Team, which meets regularly to discuss and make decisions on all aspects of WSB's work, including strategy, operations, staffing, and organizational development.
• Carry out responsibilities as outlined in the WSB Constitution, including:
o (a) In consultation with the Senior Management Team (SMT), prepare monthly financial reports for submission to the CEO, Artistic Director, and SMT.
o (b) In consultation with SMT, prepare annual financial accounts for auditing and presentation at the Annual General Meeting.
o (c) Ensure WSB's financial accounts are audited as required by donors or for SMT inspection.
o (d) Fulfil other financial duties as directed by the SMT.
o (e) Assist with financial forecasting, cash flow monitoring, oversight of regular reconciliations, and supervise finance staff, including regular updates of the WSB Outlook.
• Work actively to support the successful functioning of WSB and contribute to the achievement of the organization's Vision.
Selection Criteria:
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the NGO or development sector.
• Strong knowledge of financial software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, or QuickBooks).
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Experience working with donor-funded projects and reporting (e.g. DFAT, MFAT, EU, etc.) is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of Vanuatu's tax laws and compliance obligations is desirable.
