            We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a Construction Supervisor to work on a school reconstruction project. As the Construction Supervisor, you will be expected to work in remote locations in outer islands in Tafea province, on Tanna Island with very little on site supervision by the Team Leader. The main tasks will include

            Duties: 
            • Complete quality inspections and oversee contractors and sub-contractors work
            • Implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards
            • Resolve problems and identify construction management system improvements
            • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
            • Comply with contract requirements, country laws and provincial regulations
            • Approve construction works by conducting inspections at critical phases of completion
            • Ensure contract specifications and material testing by the contractor are complied with the specifications in the contract
            • Identify variances and implement corrective actions
            • Conduct monthly site meetings with the contractor, record the discussions and prepare Minutes of the Meetings for circulation
            • Liaise with selected NGO to ensure the social and gender issues are adequately addressed
            • Supervise the contractor’s implementation of the environmental management plan
            Criteria:
            To be successful you must have a Higher Certificate or Diploma in Building Construction (or related field) and have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing and supervising building construction works of contractors on site
            You will preferably have 2 years’ experience with ADB or other externally assisted projects along with:
            • Thorough knowledge of the properties of materials particularly steel, cement, concrete, timber, aluminum, galvanized materials, water, paint, glass, pvc pipes or conduits
            • Working knowledge of supervising a contract of works on site
            • Demonstrated experience of independently conducting monthly site meetings with contractors on sites of contracts greater than US$4 million
            • Good knowledge of the conditions of contract
            • Sensitivity to gender issues will be crucial
