Job Description:

TRR, in partnership with the Vanuatu National Youth Council (VNYC) is establishing a Community Consumer Champions initiative. It is intended that the champions provide assistance to TRR to promote more Telecommunications/ICT awareness at the community level on the benefits and potential difficulties of using ICT as an enabler for consumer’s daily needs.



TRR is now inviting applications from interested young people throughout the six provinces (Torba, Penama, Sanma, Malampa, Shefa, Tafea) and the two municipalities, who wish to be involved in extending TRR’s consumer awareness and educational activities into the rural communities outside of the reach of TRR throughout Vanuatu.



Consumers of services and products in the ICT market are drivers of ICT use, ICT take-up and positive change to Vanuatu’s economy.



Regulatory consumer protection and relations is one of the leading roles for Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulator (TRR). Currently, Telecommunications/ICT consumers whilst enjoying the benefits it brings, face numerous challenges in their usage levels of these services and products. Such challenges, as digital illiteracy, lack understanding and awareness of their

responsibilities and rights, social problems which stem from the use of ICTs, limited resources to provide technical support, and more.



To address and minimize these challenges, TRR has developed a number of initiatives that will contribute towards their empowerment and protection as they face these challenges as well as enjoying the benefits.

Criteria:

• High communication skills, be able to competently read and write, must be able to influence, possess public speaking skills, be a team player, have passion to work with rural communities, demonstrate leadership skills,

must be a quick learner and keen to learn new concepts, and be able to travel from one island to another.

• Selected individuals must also be an active member of a VNYC registered youth group based and lived in each province. Importantly, selected individuals must be based and live in the targeted province. For example,

the individual selected for Malampa province must be based and live in Malampa.
