The Vanuatu Meteorological and Geo-hazard Department (VGMD) and National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) have secured funding for a large-scale national adaptation and disaster risk reduction project designed to address Vanuatu’s immediate climate change adaptation needs and mitigate natural disaster risks.

The Procurement Officer will be contracted initially for 12 months (opportunity for extension) and be based in the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Project Management Unit.

Duties and responsibilities:

The Procurement Officer will work with the PMU in the procurement of items under the increasing resilience to Climate Change and Natural Hazards Project.

The successful applicant will have:

- At least 3 years experience in position with similar responsibilities; University Qualifications relevant field or relative experience

- Excellent writing skills and ability to prepare clear, concise reports; Fluent in Bislama and English, with French an advantage

- Excellent understanding of government finance procedures and processes

- Ability to work with a range of agencies at the national level

- Previous experience with donor finances programs.
