Job Desctiption:
The successful candidate will work on commercial, residential, industrial, hospitality, government, and property maintenance projects, coordinating with supervisors, clients, and other trades to ensure a high standard of service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise painting teams on site while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, filling cracks, and applying appropriate primers.
Apply paints, stains, varnishes, sealants, epoxies, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
Interpret project drawings, specifications, colour schedules, and work instructions.
Inspect completed work to ensure a professional finish and compliance with company standards.
Estimate material requirements and minimise waste.
Maintain painting tools, equipment, and spray machines in good working condition.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures, including the correct use of personal protective equipment.
Coordinate daily work activities with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients.
Train, mentor, and provide guidance to junior painters and labourers.
Identify surface defects and recommend appropriate repair methods before painting.
Complete projects within scheduled deadlines while maintaining exceptional workmanship.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment at all times.
Selection Criteria:
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of 5 years of professional painting experience, with previous experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
Proven experience in commercial, residential, industrial, hospitality, or large scale maintenance painting projects.
Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques, coatings, primers, and finishing systems.
Experience using airless spray equipment and conventional painting tools.
Ability to read and interpret project specifications and work instructions.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically fit and capable of working at heights, on scaffolding, and in various weather conditions.
Valid driver's licence is an advantage.
