Job Desctiption:

Iririki Island Resort & Spa is seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical & Generator Specialist to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional who is passionate about maintaining reliable electrical infrastructure and backup power systems.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, maintain and repair electrical wiring, lighting, switchboards, distribution panels and power systems.
- Operate, monitor, service and maintain diesel generators and automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and generator faults promptly to minimize downtime.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and generators.
- Monitor generator performance, fuel levels, cooling systems, batteries and engine components.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports and equipment logs.
- Respond to emergency electrical breakdowns and power outages.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with national electrical regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Test electrical installations and equipment to ensure safe operation.
- Supervise and assist junior electricians or maintenance staff when required.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for specialized repairs and equipment procurement.
- Support other engineering and maintenance activities across the resort as required.

 

Selection Criteria:

- Must understand and speak English fluently
- Trade qualification as a Licensed Electrician or equivalent Electrical Engineering certification.
- Ability to handle guest requirements including complaints.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in hospitality, commercial, industrial or utilities environments.
- Proven experience servicing and troubleshooting diesel generators and standby power systems.
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated, reliable and able to work independently.
- Willingness to participate in after hours emergency call outs when required.
