We use arts, media and communications to empower women and girls, raise awareness, and advocate on issues affecting them. The Finance Lead plays a critical role in ensuring transparency, accountability and strong financial governance across all Sista operations.

 

Job Desctiption:

The Finance Lead ensures robust financial systems, internal controls, and compliance with Sista's Operations Manual, Vanuatu laws and donor requirements. The role maintains accurate financial records using Xero, ensures accountability to donors, oversees risk and fraud control, and supports strategic decision-making. The Finance Lead contributes to organisational sustainability and upholds the highest standards of integrity. This role will work closely with Executive Director, Human Resources & Administration Team and Program Team.

 

Selection Criteria:



Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Control
• Month-end accounts processing and month-end close
• Project costing and monitor expenditure allocated to projects
• Managing general ledger and reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with Vanuatu statutory requirements (VAT, VNPF, payroll, tax)
• Maintain secure and updated accounting records and the asset register
• Ensure accurate use of Xero and proper filing of financial documentation
• Provide dotted-line oversight of Human Resources & Administration Team for finance related tasks. E.g. Payroll, VNPF, Severance Pay, Petty Cash, Travel & Cash Advance
Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare month-end financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow Statement)
• Prepare Management Report for The Management Team and The Board
• Maintain the Grant Register
• Prepare monthly forecast cashflow
• Prepare cost analysis and support strategic decision making to mitigate on potential over/under spend
• Prepare donor financial reports as required by donors
• Prepare the organisation annual budget
• Work closely with the Program Manager to prepare project proposal, budget and amended budget
• Prepare annual financial statements and lead the external audit process
• Prepare ad hoc finance related reports and analysis as required
Risk, Compliance & Fraud Control
• Ensure adherence to accounting standards and policies
• Implement risk management and fraud control measures

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in finance roles, preferably with NGOs or donor-funded programs
• Strong proficiency in Xero accounting software
• Competent in Excel and Word applications
• Understanding of donor compliance and Vanuatu financial regulations
• High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to explain financial information clearly
• Commitment to feminist values, confidentiality, and safeguarding

 

Salary:

140,000- 160,000 monthly
