Job Desctiption:
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHS Officer) to join our team in Vanuatu. This vital role is responsible for ensuring compliance with national health and safety legislation, fostering a culture of safety, and improving workplace practices to protect all staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain WHS policies and procedures
Conduct workplace risk assessments and incident investigations
Ensure compliance with the Vanuatu Occupational Health and Safety Act and related standards
Deliver WHS training, inductions, and toolbox talks to staff
Lead audits and inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
Liaise with management, staff, and government regulators to maintain safety standards
Maintain safety documentation and reporting systems
Selection Criteria:
Requirements:
Diploma or higher qualification in WHS, OHS, Environmental Health, or related field
Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role (preferably in manufacturing, construction, or agriculture)
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management practices
Excellent communication and training skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams
First Aid and Emergency Response training (desirable)
Salary:
To be negotiated based on experience and qualification
