Forney Enterprise Pty Ltd is a kava processing plant located in Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. We are processors and exporters of kava, supplying it to the world. We pride ourselves on manufacturing some of the highest quality kava powders on the market.
Job Desctiption:
The Financial Controller is accountable for developing, managing, and implementing best-practice financial processes across the organisation. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial activities, ensuring the company's finance function operates with precision and efficiency, and producing accurate financial and management accounts.
Reporting regularly to the CEO, the Financial Controller actively contributes to process enhancements, with a focus on bolstering margins, driving profitability and providing financial analysis of financial health against company goals, objectives and budgets.
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, presenting results to the CEO.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives across all business functions.
-Analyze financial data to identify trends, performance indicators, and improvement opportunities, providing strategic recommendations.
-Support the CEO with financial modeling, scenario planning, and long-term decision-making.
2. Compliance, Controls & Systems
-Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, audit, payroll, superannuation, and financial reporting obligations in Australia and Vanuatu.
-Maintain and improve financial record-keeping systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency in accounting processes.
-Develop and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure sound financial practices.
-Oversee contract, payment, and licensing obligations, including supplier payments, payroll, inter-company transactions, and timely renewal of registrations and permits.
3. Strategic Collaboration & Business Support
-Work closely with the COO, HR Manager, and departmental managers to ensure financial transparency and accountability.
-Provide financial insights, training, and support to enable informed decision-making across departments.
-Assist business units in aligning financial decisions with operational priorities and cost efficiency goals.
Selection Criteria:
Required skills & experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance
CPA accreditation
8+ years' experience in a Financial Controller position or similar
Experience within a small, fast growing business
Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, business or similar
Desire to be hands-on in managing our financial operations
High-level of commercial acumen
