Job Description: 
Vanuatu Red Cross Society is seeking applications for a dynamic and highly motivated person to engage as a Program Consultant relating to the management of a new project in the area of Climate Change Resilience. The consultant will work in collaboration with VRCS and OFDA/USAID. The position will be based in Port Vila but will undertake regular trips to Santo.
The consultancy will be for the duration of 105 days over a period of 6 months.

VRCS is an organisation involved in emergency, early recovery and development programs. Therefore, all VRCS staff have to be available at any time in order to respond to any emergency work, should the need arise.

All Vanuatu Red Cross staff and contractors must agree to and sign the Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct as well as providing a current police clearance. This is a condition of employment.

          Criteria:
          Qualifications and Profile required:
          • At least 2 years experiences in Disaster Management/Climate Change Field with experience on project management
          • Experience in working in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) with a focus on climate change adaptation and coastal resilience
          • Experience on Urban risk reduction/issues would be an advantage
          • University degree in Social Science with majoring in climate change and small island context or relevant fields is required. Master Degree is preferred.
          Knowledge & skills:
          • Knowledge of various association, networks, groups in the country which would be relevant for the successful implementation of the project
          • Knowledge of various laws, policies, programmes and ways of working related to disaster management/risk reduction both at the national and local level
          • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
          • Good level of understanding about organizational change
          • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
          • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) required
          • Good computers skills (Windows, Spreadsheets, Word Processing)
          • Self-motivated, with good judgment and initiative
          • Able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and achieve results through collaboration
          • Must be flexible and adaptive to change
          • Able to work in difficult operating environment e.g. disaster affected area.
