| | The functions of the Office of the public Prosecutor are to prepare and conduct effectively, economically and efficiently on behaif of the Public Prosecutor any prosecution, other legal proceeding or matter in which the Public Prosecutor is involved. |

| | The Public Prosecutor is appointed in accordance with Article 55 of the Constitution. |
| | |
| | The Public Prosecutor is appointed for such period, not exceeding 5 years as is specified in the instrument of his or her appoinment and may be reappointed. |
| | |
| | The Public Service Prosecutor is a leader within the meaning of the Leadership Code [Cap.240] and the Act applies to the Public Prosecutor. |
| | |
| | The sucessful Applicant must: |
| | Criteria: |
| | - Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Law; |
| | - Be admitted to practise as a legal practitioner in Vanuatu and has been so admitted for at least 7 years; or |
| | - Has been admitted to practise as a legal practitioner in Vanuatu or any other country or countries for a period of, or periods in total of, at least 7 years. |
| | - Have at least 7 years experience in a management position. |
| | - Have the ability to act independently. |
| | - Be prepared to work long and odd hours in and out of the office. |
