Role
Purpose
Save the Children has a significant and varied portfolio of work across
Vanuatu and is looking for a Senior Program Manager to provide significant
managerial support in the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
of two separate health projects. One project aims to improve the infant and
maternal health outcomes for vulnerable children and mothers, the other project
focuses on increasing STI and HIV awareness and health seeking behaviour of key
populations. Save the Children is looking for a highly capable person whom is
passionate about working with local communities and implementing programs.
The program manager will lead and support their team for the
implementation of the program, and also work with other stakeholders such as
the government and community members.
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent program management skills, ideally
regarding health programs
- Excellent monitoring, evaluation and report
writing skills in English
- Excellent financial management skills
- Donor contract management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrates the ability to plan and organise
self and others to ensure the timely completion of tasks while working in a fast paced environment and to strict deadlines
- Ability to organize and facilitate forums and workshops
- Excellent staff management skills.
- Fluency in English and advanced/fluent Bislama
skills
- Strong computer skills.
Criteria:
- Bachelors in
health sciences or relevant post-secondary qualifications
- At least 5 years of extensive project management
experience and a thorough knowledge of the project management cycle, including
project design, planning, implementation, and monitoring
- Experience in delivering/supporting
community-level activities to rural communities
- Experience in working in partnership with
government, donors, and community organizations,
- Significant experience in working in the NGO
sector
- Knowledge and experience in international health
programs is a distinct advantage
- Understanding of, and commitment to, developing
an understanding of the principles of the Child Rights Convention
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across a
diverse range of stakeholders
- Proven experience of building capacity and
mentoring staff
- Program Management skills and experience that includes managing the
implementation of programs, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing. This
includes experience in managing programs in a development context
- Skills and experience in managing budgets and finances
- Experience of directly managing and building the capacity of staff
- Excellent stakeholder skills that includes being able to engage and
work with a variety of stakeholders including donors, government, and
communities.
