Organisation Description: 

Founded in 2001, IsraAID is a non-profit, non-governmental and apolitical development organisation dedicated to supporting populations in both humanitarian response and long-term development around the world.  As of 2020, IsraAID has responded to crises in 50 countries and currently has operations which span 15 countries across multiple sectors.

IsraAID has operated in Vanuatu since 2015 when the organization responded to Tropical Cyclone PAM, and has since shifted its focus to implement a long-term strategy for all programs, including WASH and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). IsraAID's work in Vanuatu supports sustainable solutions, giving special attention to community ownership, and working closely with government partners.

 

Job Desctiption:

This position is an exciting opportunity to work with our team on a new SGBV/MHPSS program. The Protection Officer will work with IsraAID's country team, providing technical assistance and significantly contribute to general oversight of the program, in collaboration with our government, civil society, and community partners. In addition, the Protection Officer will ensure that gender equality, disability and social inclusion are mainstreamed across all of IsraAID's sectoral programs.

Project management
• Support the overall implementation of the project, ensuring high quality project deliverables.
• Contribute to the execution of project plans, monitoring and evaluation framework, and budgets, ensuring adequate communication and organisation between all relevant stakeholders.
• Support logistical aspects of the project including community mobilisation, facilitation of trainings, and liaison with relevant provincial and local authorities.
• Contribute to project narrative and financial reports in a timely manner and in compliance with donor and internal requirements.

Technical support
• Provide input and work closely with relevant HQ technical staff and the Vanuatu team in the development of quality SGBV and MHPSS tools including training modules, manuals, and tool kits, in line with government and IsraAID internal strategic priorities
• Contribute to capacity development of IsraAID staff and partners in gender equality, social inclusion, and child protection.
• Provide technical support in the development of high-quality concept notes and proposals that mainstream gender equality, social inclusion, and child protection.

Representation and organisational learning
• Represent IsraAID in relevant working groups and forums, and raise the profile of IsraAID's work in Vanuatu.
• Assist to establish partnerships with government departments and other organisations working in gender equality, social inclusion, child protection, and MHPSS.
• Lead in the collection and documentation of stories, case studies, and best practices from the project to inform future phases of implementation, and support ongoing program design.

 

Selection Criteria:

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Social Work, Psychology, gender studies, development studies, or another relevant field.
• A minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in Vanuatu, with a focus on SGBV, gender mainstreaming, social inclusion, and/or child focused programming.
• Knowledge of relevant guidelines and standards on gender; experience in the development and utilization of inclusive evaluation and gender analysis tools and frameworks.  
• Experience in the design and implementation of gender and social inclusive MEAL frameworks.
• Capacity development of local staff and stakeholders, including the design and delivery of training to diverse target audiences.
• Ability to work flexibly in communities with challenging and changing environments.
• Commitment to the aims and principles of IsraAID; comfortable working in close collaboration with IsraAID HQ technical staff.
• Team player with ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bislama.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
