Due Date:

Contract

Organisation Description:

Sista is a charitable organization, established in Port Vila, Vanuatu, which is driven by feminist values. We use arts, media and communications to empower women and girls, raise awareness and advocate on issues that affect them. Our aim is to help Vanuatu to achieve a gender balanced and respectful society.

Sista and HCDI (Human Capacity Development International) have received a grant from Spotlight Initiative to use Pacific-based storian methods to raise Gender Based Violence (GBV) awareness and promote change through a documentary and illustrated booklet.

Job Desctiption:

This project is called 'Journey to Change – Vanuatu Storian on GBV' (Gender Base Violence) and focuses on storytelling or 'storian' or 'talanoa', which is an embedded part of Pacific culture and Indigenous cultures generally, as an alternative, effective tool for raising GBV awareness and promoting change. This project focuses on the "journey to change" to show the path to change and its challenges, based on the stories of those on the path.
Underlying the journey will be the message of a healthy and peaceful society as a viable and much needed alternative to the violence currently faced by women and how, working together, we can attain this. We are looking for a filmmaker who has experience with making documentaries and is able to capture a range of stories that demonstrate the "journey to change" to end gender based violence in Vanuatu.

Selection Criteria:

1. More than 2 years experience working in similar field.
2. Extensive experience in producing development work related documents for publication and documentaries for national and international organizations with the aim of reaching both local and international audiences.
3. Local knowledge of Gender Based Violence in Vanuatu and Bislama language.
4. Excellent technical capacities to ensure smooth and high-quality production.
5. Experienced and qualified team for shooting, editing, audio, mixing, voiceover, graphics etc.
