The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) is
seeking a Bilingual Information/Research Officer for its Port-Vila office. This is a
junior position within the VTO and requires an outgoing and a dedicated person
who will be the face of VTO to the Visitors Information Centre enquiries.The Information/Research
Officer ensures prompt and effective servicing of visitor, trade and media
inquiries, as well as gathering of research data and market intelligence, which
is a key function of the Vanuatu Tourism Office. The Information/Research Officer’s responsibilities also include assisting in
planning, organising and hosting trade and media familiarisation visits and
providing regular feedback to senior management through the Senior
Information/Research Officer.
 
 
Duties & Responsibilities: 
 
 
Carries out duties of an Information/Research Officer in the main office
or elsewhere as requiredEnsures that all inquiries are promptly dealt with and appropriate
records of inquires made and serviced are keptDeals with verbal, written and electronic inquiries from visitors,
travel agents and tour operators as well as mediaUndertakes data collection on local industry operators and gathering of
market intelligence as directed by the Senior Research/Information OfficerCooperates with digital and e-marketing colleagues in developing,
updating and maintaining destination product databasesParticipates in training on new products and product familiarizations
and briefings by new and existing operators/service providers as well as other
formal training sessionsAssists the
Senior Information/Research Officer in compiling regular reports on the main
activities performed by the Visitor Information Centres as well as providing
feedback on visitor trends and issues arisingProvides input to the preparation of information material for
publication and/or uploading on to the VTO websiteAssists in
planning and organising domestic itineraries of familiarisation (‘famil’)
visits by travel trade and media, as requiredProvides, meet
and greet/transfer services for visiting agents, travel writers and broadcast
media crews, as requiredEscorts as host
on sightseeing/fact finding tours of invited famil groups (even out of office
hours), as requiredUndertakes any other duties
and responsibilities as directed by the Senior Information/Research Officer or
the Manager Information/Research.  
 
 
Criteria:

Have at least three years' experience in the tourism sector, preferably in a similar positionBe computer literate and fluent in using Microsoft programs, email, internet and other related programsMust have good communication skills Be fluent in French and English languageHave a formal qualification or training in tourism or any related fieldHas a valid driver's licence. |  |  |
