Job Description:
As a qualified professional and functioning under general supervision, the Programming and Training Specialist (PTS) has responsibility for supporting the planning, developing, implementing and administering of Peace Corps Vanuatu: (1) Volunteer support system (2) Volunteer small grants program and (3) Peace Corps Response Program. The PTS will serve as a member of the project team providing volunteer support directly to Volunteers, while assisting in all programming and training activities. The PTS implements approved activities relating to Peace Corps small  grants program; acts as the staff liasion for Peace Corps Response, and plugs gaps identified in general volunteer support.
 

Criteria: 
Required Qualification
  • Minimum Education: Completion of Year 13 or International Baccalaureate Diploma
  • Minimum Experience: Five years progressively responsible staff experience within an international volunteer organization or diplomatic mission, including at least one-year as a trainer within the organization and one-year basic budgeting experience
  • Language: Level IV (Fluent) spoken and written English and Bislama
  • Valid Vanuatu Driver's License
  • Computers: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word

i) Knowledge: Knowledge of government procedures, adult training, budgets and project design and management

ii) Skills and Abilities
  • High level organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Basic budgeting and math skills
  • Ability to work with difficult people in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to work independently in accordance with written procedures with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to oversee the planning, organization and execution of specific projects and to write document, including precise, analytical reports
  • Ability to render advice employing sound judgement within Peace Corps guidelines.
