Job Desription:

Providing services to the community of Port Vila, Efate and occasionally the outer islands of Vanuatu. ProMedical has secondary roles in the provision of community education programmes, delivery of First Aid courses to the public, retrieval services as well as management of the only Hyperbaric chamber in Vanuatu. The position is based in Port Vila in the Republic of

Vanuatu and you will be required to reside locally. Some cases are attended to as a single responder therefore a high degree of dedication and flexibility is required. There is a requirement for international travel associated with this position whilst undertaking medical evacuation cases to and from neighbouring countries. The service currently operates a 4 day on, 4

day off roster. The successful applicant will be offered an initial contract for a minimum of 12 months, with a view to longer term if mutually satisfying, renewable by agreement subject to Vanuatu laws and pending successful completion of a probationary period of not less than 3 months. Criteria:

- Qualification in Paramedic Sciences, or equivalent, Cert IV First Aid Tutoring qualification, minimum five (5) years post qualification experience in emergency ambulance service and demonstrated ability to

operate as a single officer with a superior level of problem solving

- Medical fitness to AS/NZS2299 (Diving Medical Examination) with full physical fitness to perform the duties of a paramedic, driving licence and eligibility to obtain Vanuatu driving licence, no criminal record or

charges (a police clearance is required under Immigration Act), high standard of English - both verbal and written and eligibility for multiple entry visas for Australia, New Zealand & New Caledonia

- Team oriented and flexible demeanour, with ability to adapt to variable situations and unconventional working conditions, willingness to be a mentor to local Ni-Vanuatu trainees, cross-cultural awareness

and sensitivity, commitment to team work, coaching and mentoring other people, ability to cope with cultural isolation and a standard of living that may be different

- A preparedness to work with limited resources within a challenging environment, ability to assist with some administrative areas of the operation

- Desirable is: Qualifications and/or experience in the following: Hyperbaric operations, aeromedical operations, provision of pre-hospital care in a rural/remote setting preferably experience in a developing

country, paramedical teaching experience, French and/or Bislama language skills and experience in working in a developing country

Salary:

Vt4,200,000 and Vt4,600,000p.a. (there are no income taxes in Vanuatu) and is negotiated, dependant on qualifications of the successful applicant.
