Job Description:
  • Being sensational at greeting guests, so they feel welcome 
  • Greet guests and arrange their day tours of our caves and plantation as well as restaurant seating
  • Answer the office phone and take bookings
  • Take food and drink orders
  • Serve meals and make drinks orders at the bar.
We are a small business but this is a big job! You will work with another very experienced waitress and on her days off, run front of house on your own. Full training provided in areas you are not familiar with. However this position requires a minimum of 5 years experience with tourists at a resort. 

If you have other skills they may be valued highly and other job roles are possible. For example, computer skills, it is not necessary but highly valued. This is a senior role for a very experienced person. The possibilities are exciting.

You will report to the head chef and to the co-owner.

We are open 7 days a week from 8am to 4pm plus evening meals 1-2 times per week. You will work rostered weekends and public holidays, based on a 5 days per week.
If you live in Vila or elsewhere, transport costs may be provided. If you are new to Santo, we may be able to assist with accommodation, depending on family needs. 
    Criteria:
    Required:
    • Minimum 5 years experience in a Resort
    • Excellent English
    • Outgoing personality to greet guests
    • Experience taking guest meal and drinks orders
    • Experience making drinks, including cocktails
    Preferred but not necessary:
    • Use of a Point of Sale computer system 
    • Use of Eftpos/Credit Card transactions
    • Currency exchange experience.

          Job Description:
          Small business - big, important job. Pay end of month invoices, wages, VNPF, rosters, compile VAT returns. Organise office: Set up filing system, manage tour and restaurant bookings, create invoices.

          This is a responsible, senior role, working directly with the co-owner. You will have a high degree of autonomy. The main focus of the role is office management but you may also be greeting guests and assisting in other roles as needed. The possibilities are exciting for the right person.

          Daily staff transport provided free of charge. For the right person: cost of moving to Santo (if you live in Vila or elsewhere), assistance with accommodation may be possible (depending on family needs). 

          Freshwater Plantation is open 7 days per week and employs 15 staff, all of whom work a rostered 5 days per week. We are a beautiful 300 acre cocoa plantation which offers day tours of our caves and plantation. We also offer lunch at our restaurant: See comments on Trip Advisor, "Espiritu Santo", "Things to Do". Another part of the business is 4WD car hire on Santo.
            Criteria:
            Required:
            • Minimum 5 years administrative work experience
            • MYOB or similar
            • Word and Excel (ability to write Excel formulas)
            • Organisational skills (For example. scheduling of tour & restaurant bookings as well as car hire bookings). 
            • Willingness to work in various other roles as needed
            • Excellent telephone manner
            • Excellent written and spoken English
            Preferred but not required:
            • Driver's Licence
            • IT training
            • Previous private sector work, preferably tourism but not necessary
            • Willingness to work on weekend or public holidays, as needed, based on 5 days/week.
