Okeanos Sustainable Sea Transport Ltd is currently
looking for a local crew: deckhand or captain (20GT minimum) with sailing
experience.
Our
goal is to develop sustainable tourism and transport as well as launching
awareness campaigns and get involved in marine conservation.
Our boat is a Vaka Motu, a traditional Polynesian catamaran (15m) using only
sails, solar panels and coconut oil for our engines. This Vaka has arrived in
Vanuatu after PAM and helped transporting crops and supplies to the damaged islands.
Having local, committed, crew members is now essential for us.
The successful applicants will be trained by our current crew.
Criteria:
The applicant must:
- Own a safety certificate (or 20GT ticket + safety certificate)
- Fluent in English and Bislama, French speaking is an advantage but not
required
- Applicants living in Port-vila are preferred
- Punctual, honest and a strong desire to work
- Customer friendly
- Committed on the long run
- Previous experience in sailing
- Work as part of a team
- Be able to work Monday - Sunday including public holidays and split shifts
- Basic cooking skills are an advantage but not required.
