| The Ministry of Education with funding support from donors (AusAID, New Zealand Aid & UNICEF) is establishing Schools Based Management (SBM) programme for primary schools in Vanuatu. A new unit is being established in the Ministry to implement the SBM Programme. The SBM Unit will compromise ten officers from the Ministry as well as a small |
| team of locally recruited technical advisers. |
| The Ministry is seeking a Senior Manager with proven experience and expertise to manage the SBM Unit over this 12 month contract. |
| The primary SBM Unit working languages will be bislama and english with some provincial and community work in french. |
| This is a senior role within the Ministry and the ideal candidate will have as a minimum: |
| Criteria: |
| - Relevant tertiary qualification; 15 years relevant experience (including at a senior level in the public sector); Senior level experience of working in the social sector, preferably in education |
| - Proven experience in successful financial and budget management; Managed a team of staff to achieve project or program objectives; Proven experience and knowledge of decentralization processes |
| - Must have strong leadership skills for this position and the ability to perform well at national, provincial and local levels; Have some previous experience in consulting or contract work. |
| Salary: |
| Equivalent to local consultancy rate. |
