We are seeking expressions of interest
for 2 Health Outreach Officers to join us in our Santo and Ambae Offices. These
are 12 months contracts on full-time basis (with
expectation of renewal annually if funding approved).
Where you come in:
Reporting
to the Field Managers, you will be primarily responsible for
- Providing daily support
to community based activities related to the Health and Nutrition programs
- Provide advice and
mentoring to community members in the areas of Health and Nutrition within the
scope of the project
- Provide technical and
practical assistance on the integration of health/nutrition across all SC
programming sectors
- Work collaboratively with
other SC community mobilisers to implement health programs in the province
- Collaborate with the
Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and other agencies in accomplishing Government
and SC objectives, including policy and strategic development, program and
project planning, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of
nutrition activities.

Adopting the following
multi-level strategies to achieve your program goals by:
- Assisting in the design
of national/provincial baseline assessment to understand the current level of
awareness and knowledge on health and nutrition
- Contribute to the
creation and promotion of awareness campaigns, design strategic communication
on health and nutrition to target populations as well as to general population
- Provide technical input
to National health and Nutrition working group, contribute to National policy
and strategy, and standardize a set of tools and approaches to address the
needs at the community level
- Support implementation to
various projects within Save the Children.
If we could compose the perfect you…
……you have 5 years verifiable work experience in nursing and/or midwifery, In-depth
knowledge and understanding of nutrition and RMNCH challenges and opportunities
in Vanuatu, familiar with national RMCNH standards and protocols, you have demonstrated
ability to facilitate workshops/group learning sessions with community members and
professionals, demonstrated ability to write program activity reports, exceptional
community engagement skills, have prior experience as
trainer or supervisor, providing support and capacity building to health staff,
commitment to work in remote areas and stay overnight in communities and have working
knowledge of/commitment to integrated nutrition programming.
Criteria:
This role requires:
- Qualifications
in Nurse/Midwife
- Good computer
skills, especially in MS Excel and Word, and familiarity with using the internet
to access resources
- Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluent in English
and Bislama
- Hold
self-accountable for making decisions and manages resources efficiently
- Hold team and
partners accountable to deliver on their responsibilities - providing the
necessary development to improve performance and applying appropriate
consequences when results are not achieved
- Set ambitious and
challenging goals, takes responsibility for own personal development, and
encourages others to do the same.
