The
Vanuatu Strategic Tourism Action Plan (VSTAP) Implementation Unit partners with
the Department of Tourism (DoT), the Vanuatu Tourism Office and other agencies
and stakeholders to implement a wide array of projects and programs to meet the Government of Vanuatu’s development objectives for the
tourism sector.   
The
VSTAP Implementation Unit is now seeking the services of a Technical Advisor
(TA) to assist the DoT with the development of a National Sustainable Tourism
Development (NSTD) Policy. It is expected that this will provide the framework to support a future
Sustainable Tourism Strategy and Action Plan. 
 
 
Criteria:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience 
 
Formal qualifications in tourism, with an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of global best practice in sustainable development policies, planning, management and capacity-buildingPractical experience with developing and implementing strategic sustainable development projects, policies and plans, particularly within the Pacific regionPractical experience working with stakeholders in the private, public and community sectorsA practical and supportive approach to discussing issues that is appropriate to Vanuatu tourism development and its Melanesian culturePrevious project management experience, including financial management, co-ordination of project team members, organising stakeholder meetings and workshops, production of high quality reports, high level mentoring skills and client communicationPrevious experience and understanding of the Government of Vanuatu agencies and their operational processes and procedures, would be an advantageA demonstrated track record of successfully delivering sustainable development projects and programs. |
