  Transparency Vanuatu is a non-governmental organisation, established in  2001
  to tackle corruption and promote good governance in Vanuatu. At the core of
  the organisation's strategy is increasing access to information to support  better
  decision-making.
  
  
Job Desctiption:
  You will be required to work under the supervision of the Chairperson, Board  of Directors and Chief Executive Officer :
  Your duties will include:
  • To meet with complainants wishing to raise complaints with regards to  corruption. 
  • To assist complainants to compose complaints to respective public agencies.  
  • To prepare a legal opinion note for respective public agencies. 
  • To inquire into newly adopted legal documents. 
  • To arrange meetings for furthering of complains with other government  departments or agencies.
  • To complete any required professional work under the supervision of Chief  Executive Officer.   
  • To assist with development of staff training especially in procurement,  tendering, UNCAC and human rights areas and being liaison staff member to ensure  compliance is being adhered to by the various public agencies
  • To be assigned some tasks within other projects including human rights or  education matters
  • To assist with preparation or perusing any training materials developed to  ensure compliance with the laws and/or projects is maintained
  •  To ensure you have a valid passport so you may be assigned to attend any  workshop, training or other activity outside of Vanuatu at short notice
  • To offer all or any assistance required to any project running under  Transparency with input into radio programs, forums, discussions etc which may  from time to time form part of the Transparency program  
  Specific Responsibilities
  1. Provide legal advice to the Chairman, Board of Directors and Chief Executive  Officer.
  2. Review all issues affecting the lives of the people, including current  political issues and social issues.
  3. Takes a leadership role in advising the Board on Bills and Legislations being  discussed by the Parliament.
  4. Liaise with Ombudsman Office, Police, Faith-based organizations, Civil  Society Organizations and other NGOs on issues currently affecting the lives of  the communities.
  5. Cultivates a strong partnership with the Board of Directors in setting  policies consistent with the mission of the Transparency International Vanuatu.  Works, as needed, with all standing and ad hoc committees of the Board.
  6. Work with URA on the proposed work plan of "Utilities Awareness" in line  with the MOU signed between TIV and URA.
  Public Relations/Advocacy
  1. Promotes Transparency International Vanuatu's visibility and welfare  through participation and membership in community forums, civic organizations  and activities that are aligned with Transparency International Vanuatu's  mission and vision.
  2. Advocates at the national, regional and international levels, policy issues  that impact people within the communities.
  3. Represents Transparency International Vanuatu (TIV) in all media relations by  participating in interviews, developing press releases and all other media type  engagements.  
  
  
Selection Criteria:
  QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Legally qualified and Certified to Practice in Vanuatu, including taking  cases to Court.
  2. A minimum of 5 years non-profit work experience in comparable fields.
  3. At least 3 years of demonstrated success in staff leadership, fundraising,  partnership development and financial management.
  4. Demonstrated success of effectively leading change and organizational growth  through strategic planning.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of policy issues that are faced by people within the  communities.
  6. Demonstrated success in acquiring agency support through successful grant  applications and general fund raising.
  7. Strong fund development, marketing and public relations experience to  successfully engage stakeholders, including funders, business partners, policy  makers, media and communities.
  8. Strong and effective oral and written communication skills.
  9. Personal qualities that include integrity, commitment to TIV's mission,  respect for diversity and the ability to inspire and motivate.
  10. Must be Microsoft Office proficient, i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.    
  
  
Salary:
