Job Desctiption:
Your Responsibilities
1. Management and Maintenance of Mechanical Systems:
o Oversee all mechanical systems on the ship, including engines, generators, propulsion systems, auxiliary equipment, and cooling systems.
o Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning and minimize unexpected downtime.
o Plan and coordinate regular maintenance operations in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines and maritime regulations.
2. Team and Safety Management:
o Supervise and lead the team of mechanics and technicians responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
o Promote and implement safety standards on board the ship, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
3. Diagnosis and Troubleshooting:
o Analyze breakdowns and technical issues occurring in mechanical systems, using advanced diagnostic tools and conducting thorough testing.
o Develop effective troubleshooting strategies to minimize disruptions and swiftly restore normal operations.
4. Reporting and Communication:
o Prepare detailed reports on maintenance operations, completed repairs, encountered issues, and preventive measures taken.
o Maintain regular and transparent communication with the ship's crew, including the captain and other members of the leadership team, to ensure coordination and synchronization of activities on board.
5. Conducting Watch at Sea:
o Assume responsibility for conducting watch at sea, overseeing the safe operation of the ship's mechanical systems during assigned shifts.
o Monitor equipment performance, respond to alarms or abnormalities, and make necessary adjustments to maintain the ship's course, speed, and overall functionality.
Collaborate with the navigation team to ensure seamless communication and coordination
Selection Criteria:
Mechanic embedded machine system advanced skills
In-depth knowledge of on-board mechanical systems and troubleshooting
Qualification Engineer 3000 KW (STCW III/3) compulsory
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the position
