| | Policy Adviser to the Department of Women's Affair (DWA), |
| | Ministry of Justice and Communty Service (MJCS) |
| | Stretem Rod Blong Jastis, Vanuatu's law and Justice Partner ship Program, is a Australian Aid funded program to support the Government of Vanuatu's justice and community services sector strategy and enhancement of service delivery generally. |
| | Purpose of Role. |
| | The role of the policy Adviser will be to build on the existing body of work ( including national consultations, gender mapping, planning documents), using an appropriate consultative process in accordance with the Governmet of Vanuatu requirements, develop a National Gender and Women's Policy owned and supported by DWA for implementation across government. |
| | Location and Duration |
| | Based in Port Vila, Vanuatu, the length of this assignment will be 3 months. |

| | Minimum education and experience required. |
| | Criteria: |
| | - Advanced university degree in policy, planning, organisational development, training and/or development fields, and/or relevant professional experience. |
| | - Extensive experience in policy development and planning as well as organisational development. |
| | - Experience in working on gender and women's affair in the Pacific. |
| | - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organisation, maximising cooperation. |
| | - Commitment to capacity building and skills transfer while considering cultural and gender issues. |
| | - Skills and experience in development of an inclusive, consultative facilitative approach that identifies existing knowledge and understanding. |
| | - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully in a cross cultural setting which maintains relationships through negotiation of different views. |
| | - High level oral, written and communication skills at all levels, with a demonstrated ability on work closely and liaise with stake holders. |
| | - Eligibility to obtain Vanuatu visa. |
| | - Understanding of gender and development issues. |
| | - Understanding of law and development issues. |
| | - Previous experience working in Melanesian culture. |
