Iririki Island Resort & Spa is seeking suitable candidate to appoint for the following position.

Ferry Boat Driver

Reporting to the Resort Manager, you will operate the ferry boat, transporting passengers and cargo on a set path between the mainland and Iririki Island. Be able to maintain a schedule, oversee loading and unloading procedures on the boat.
Duties will include but not necessarily limited to the following:
• Piloting vessels (ferry / barge) from Iririki Island Resort to Port Vila mainland dock and back.
• Piloting sunset or other cruises around the harbour as required
• Piloting Iririki Ferryboats daily while providing an interactive "spiel" to guests and positively engaging and interacting with the guests, while maintaining expected guest safety and service levels.  
• Loading and unloading guests and belongings, while maintaining appropriate passenger levels.
• Cleaning Ferry & other Boats and facilities, Inspecting Ferry for service issues and reporting to appropriate contact, daily.
• Check fuel, water, oil and mechanical condition before leaving to transport guests.
• Assure that emergency procedures are followed in the case of an accident; complete written accident report as required and call/notify the Manager as soon as possible.
• Repair, secure and/or immediately report any and all safety hazards on the boats or jetty areas.
• Tell the Manager of the need for routine and preventative maintenance for all boats and/or engines.
• Know and follow all company, Environmental, Marine, Health and Safety, Emergency Action Plan and Risk Management Program policies and procedures.

 

Selection Criteria:

• Must have an up to date Seafarer's Certificate

A degree with one (1) year of relevant work experience; or

An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
A valid trades's license (as applicable);

Organisation Description: 

The Vanuatu Qualifications Authority (VQA) is the national regulator of the post-school education and training (PSET) sector. The VQA regulates PSET courses and providers to ensure nationally approved quality standards are met.

The VQA is one of the key agents in the implementation of the national PSET Policy 2016-2020. The VQA is working in close collaboration with the Tertiary Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Training and with PSET providers to achieve the PSET Policy vision of: A sustainable, well-coordinated and inclusive PSET system that maximises access to relevant and quality assured qualifications that lead to improved economic, social and cultural development opportunities for all.

 

Job Desctiption:

Information & marketing officer manages and develop the procurement, supply and distribution of information for the Authority in support of their needs and objectives. S/he works with electronic information, especially online databases, content management systems and internet resources, as well as traditional library materials. In addition, the post holder develops advocacy materials for the VQA roles, accredited courses, registered training providers, PSET system in general and any other documents for the marketing and/or advertisement purposes.

 

Selection Criteria:

The Successful Candidate must meet the following Position criteria:
• Possess diploma or bachelor's degree in marketing and information system
• Experience in marketing and public relations
• Experience in marketing strategies
• Experiences in developing advertising kits and tools such as Photoshop, adobe applications, leaflets, pamphlets etc.
• Excellent computer skills
• Advertising techniques
• Skills in negotiation and public relations
• Practical and creative thinker
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good team player
• Can work under pressure with limited supervision
• Can work with others and share innovative ideas

 

Salary:

Ps S 4.6 - VUV1,727,000
