PROGRAMME ASSISTANT, GS6 LEVEL
Under the supervision and guidance of the UNJP RMNCAH Coordinator, performs a variety of information gathering, monitoring, technical and administrative services of moderate scope and difficulty, in support of programme activities.

Job Description:


The appointee will be responsible for the provision of library information services to meet the needs of on-campus and distance education students, staff and general users in the area of law at The University of the South Pacific. S/he will be based at the Emalus Campus Library, Port Vila, Vanuatu and will also be required to assist in the provision of library information services in other subject areas at the Emalus Campus Library.
Criteria:
  • Applicants must have a professional qualification in Library Information Studies recognized by an accrediting body such as the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
  • They must have proven experience in the provision of library services to distance and on-campus clients; knowledge and familiarity with library information technology; working knowledge and experience in the international library standards AACR2/RDA, the Moys Classification Scheme, LC Subject Headings, LCRI and MARC 21; experience with information literacy programmes and faculty liaison; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • In addition, they must have a minimum of  6  years of professional law library experience; be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of interpersonal, comparative and foreign law resources with particular experience in the use of online law databases; knowledge of legal bibliography and legal research techniques; experience in conducting training in legal research; and be able to assist in managing and motivating a small team of staff, and to work evening and weekend duties. 
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in training library personnel at the paraprofessional level; dealing with library users in a multi-cultural environment; and working in a developing country. 

Salary:

Salary Range: Band 3   VT 3,972,317 to VT 5,226,733 per annum (Inclusive of 15% Gratuity)
In addition to the above benefits, the University contributes 10% of basic salary to an approved superannuation scheme, provides airfare and relocation costs where appropriate.

Job Description:
The Pacific Aviation Safety Office (PASO) is currently implementing the Pacific Aviation Safety Office Reform Project (PASO Reform Project), supported by the World Bank. The PASO Reform Project has the development objective to ensure effective regional delivery of aviation safety and security oversight in Pacific Island Countries by strengthening the PASOs technical and coordination capacity. The project’s implementing Entity  is  PASO,  with  project  implementatiosupport  from  the Technical  and  Fiduciary Services Unit (TFSU) of the Pacific Aviation Investment Program (PAIP).

The PASO has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the PASO Reform Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services.

The services include Regulatory Specialist for PASO and expected to provide services for 70 working days’ input over 12 months period.

The PASO now invites eligible Individual consultants to indicate their interest in providing the above mentioned services. Interested consultants should provide information, including CV demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the services.

A firm is eligible to nominate an individual however, note that only the experience and qualifications of the nominated individual shall be used in the selection process, and that (their) corporate experience shall not be taken into account. The firm, if proposing an individual must specify whether the contract would be signed with the firm or the proposed individual.
