We are currently seeking to recruit a person to work as part of a dynamic team in vanuatu implementing two regional projects in the western pacific including solomon islands an papua new guinea (PNG). The position will |
| | be responsible for implementing activities in vanuatu that support human right defenders at community level. For more information, to obtain a copy of the selection criteria and position description please contact the phone number mentioned below. Duties and responsibilities: |
| | 1) Develop training programs for human rights defenders at community level seeking to increase awareness and understanding human rights as it related to local context |
| | 2) Develop capacity of community based groups including church groups and women groups to project children and women from sexual abuse and violence |
| | 3) Support the collection of evidence of sexual abuse and violence against children and women |
| | 4) Support the legal trainers and partners organisations in preparing legal documents against human rights offenders |
| | Interested applicant must have the following requirements: |
| | Criteria: |
| | - Ability to plan, organise and monitor tasks at while maintaining a clear focus on sustainable outcomes; Able to coordinate a range of complex tasks simultaneously; Able to effectively priorities own workload; |
| | Understanding of the socio-economic context of rural villages; Understanding gender, human rights and environmental issues and their application in developing countries; Knowledge of gender analysis; |
| | Experience in community development and human rights; A willing, inclusive and respectful team player |
| | - A high standard of written and oral skills; Excellent listening skills; Ability to identify issues that are likely to be sensitive and develop appropriate responses based on sound judgment |
| | - Has the ability to manage through crisis situations in a calm and confident way; Able to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment. |
